We love, love love to show people that have never had massage, the wonderful world of massage! Frankly, it is one of our favorite things to do! We also love to help you surprise your people! That being said, if you schedule a session for someone else, PLEASE be sure to put the RECIPIENTS NAME, not your own, which gets very confusing (you would put their name if you scheduled their doctor's appointment right?). We understand wanting to surprise someone, so it is ok to put your e-mail and phone number as those will receive the confirmation and reminder, BUT, then it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, at your chosen time, to pass on the message to the client (which is listed on the confirmation that you received) PLEASE, DO NOT BE EARLY. And to come to the door at the top of the ramp unless the store is open and they want to browse that first. The reasons that we can't have people book under other people's names are as follows:
1. Therapist Safety. It is important to know who is coming and if they are male or female. We do not want a new male client arriving and a female therapist being alone in the space with a new person who they think is going to be a female but is a male.
2. Therapist Safety. For 100 reasons, we need to know the name of the actual person that will be arriving.
3. Therapist comfort. Maybe it is a male therapist that prefers to not work on females or a female therapist that prefers to not work on males.
4. Cuts down on confusion: We are still currently in a massage therapist shortage in upstate NY as all fo the schools previously closed (Finger Lakes School of Massage, Onondoga School of Massage (Rochester and Syracuse campuses), Canandaigua Community College switched their massage program to nursing during covid), Morrisville etc). THANKFULLY, two new schools opened and after two years of waiting, will be graduating students soon! YAY! In the meantime, our only therapists has been hanging on for dear life trying to operate solo in a big space with lots of overhead. YES, a big space is exactly what we worked hard to build so future therapists can have each other's support and have other jobs to pair with their massage career such as working in Deja Vu, driving delivery for the deli etc. They won't have to work 12 hour days ,6 days a week or work with stationary tables as we have all electric now, again, YAY, better on the body.
Anywyay, while we do read notes when appointments are made, if a day is particularly busy, we may not see the note until we are beginning intake with the client, and if we are already looking for a Susan but see a Kevin, we may think that Kevin is there to see another practitioner or the chiropractor and it can be too confusing. We have only one therapist at the moment doing her best to do most the jobs and see as many people as possible. More therapists are coming which will only increase the chances for confusion if we don't iron this out now. Booking in the actual person's name will definitelty help cut down on any misunderstandings.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We previously had this procedure but didn't actively reach out to correct names but after a client came 20 minutes early and was confused with another person's patient, therefore, we will here forward, make sure each session is booked in that person's actual name.
